I fixed it!

I am feeling all powerful...having a Helen Reddy moment ("I Am Woman")...I fixed my blog problem without any one's help. Well, maybe a little help from an HTML code tutorial. I still don't know how my original problem occurred but as long as it is fixed, I don't care.

Now - for the bitching portion of my blog - I heard on the news yesterday that there is some sort of investigation going on to determine if gas prices were "fixed". Ya' think?!? So I guess they will spend a bunch of our money to discover that which is true and then they won't do a thing about it. How can Congress go after the folks that are lining their pockets?

Too cynical?

Blogging question

I was just looking at my blog and see that other than my entry from yesterday, all older posts are paragraph centered. How did that happen? I didn't mess with any HTML code except in my post yesterday. Anyone have any thoughts about what I may have done? Any gurus out there reading me?

Regarding Scott McClellan's new book

Well, DUH! Does he really reveal anything that the American public hasn't figured out already? I imagine most folks at the White House are not terribly surprised by the book. Sort of standard disgruntled former employee stuff. What I want is serious, debilitating info on Dick (you know I love to call him that!) Cheney. Somebody needs to dish some serious dirt. You know, the kind of stuff that we all know has happened/is happening and no one has had the balls to divulge.

There I go again...off on a Dick Cheney tirade. I honestly cannot help myself. I am wondering if I can threaten to slap him after the election in November or do I have to wait until after Obama is sworn in? I know I can't while he is still the VP. They have rules about stuff like that. The Secret Service is so damned picky!

Memorial Day 2008

Today before you start up the barbeque or kick back with an adult beverage, please take time to reflect and remember and perhaps even offer up thanksgivings for the men and women who have served in our military.

Although I will never support the war in Iraq, I do support those who have offered themselves in service to our country. It is a huge responsibility and we owe them all a debt of gratitude.

What was she THINKING??

OK, I understand she was trying to make a point concerning her rationale for staying in the campaign to the bitter end but for Hillary to bring up any kind of remark about Bobby Kennedy's assassination was just stupid. Everyone knows that Obama accepted Secret Service protection very early in the campaign because the threat against his life is real. Stupid comment, just stupid.

And speaking of stupid, I have to mention Reverend Hagee. That man is no more a Christian than my cat! It really makes me sad that all Christians are lumped into the same category. Stating that you are a "Christian" and actually being a follower of Christ are too entirely different things. Rev. Hagee should spend a little time reading Jesus's remarks about love.

So I looked...

at houses. Only 3 but that was enough for an afternoon. The first two houses were in Womelsdorf, at town that was established in the late 1700s. Both of the homes I looked at were built in the 1800s. One was huge with lots of rooms and probably was quite a showplace in 1890. The second was a darling Victorian with turrets and a wrap around porch. It was obvious that the previous owners had attempted to fix it up. However, I think they discovered it was a money pit and after a second mortgage they were in over their heads. It is bank owned and as far as I am concerned, the bank can keep it! The worst thing about the property probably was the neighbors next door. It appears that they are running a flea market from their front porch. Not exactly what I was looking for in a neighborhood!

The last house I looked at was in a different county. It would add about 15 minutes each way to my work drive. The house is a real possibility, however, I am not going to make any quick decisions. There are other houses in that same town that interest me so I will continue my search.

There are a couple of things I have learned. Don't even think about looking at a period house unless somewhere in the brochure it mentions that upgrades to electrical have been made (!) Another thing I am learning is to decipher "realtor speak". When I worked with someone in the business back in Seattle, we were really honest about describing a property. Some realtors are not quite that "real" in their descriptions. Also, if a house is listed as a "fixer upper"...they are serious!

And so, the adventure continues..

You have to give her credit...

Two more primaries down and still Hillary keeps on. Realistically I don't believe there is anyway that she can secure the nomination but you really do have to give her credit for perseverance. The question that begs to be answered is "What is it doing to the party?" You know there will be fools out there who will not vote for Obabma based solely on the color of his skin. I am hoping that rational voters will unite behind the Democratic platform and make the changes necessary for our country to move forward.

Big day tomorrow

I am going house hunting tomorrow. I have an appointment with my realtor to look at four houses. I can't decide if I am excited or terrified. Up until just a few months ago, I really thought I was going to wait another year or two. Then my DDIL mentioned that next Thanksgiving if both of my guy's families were coming to Pennsylvania for the holiday, they all wanted to stay with me.

I do have a very large, lovely apartment (about 1200 square feet) but 5 adults and 3 children would be a little overwhelming. Especially since there is only 1 bathroom and 2 bedrooms. The more I thought about it, the more I started thinking about a house...with a basement...and a walk-in attic that I could turn into a studio...and more than one bath...and a formal dining room...and three real bedrooms.

So, I contacted a realtor and got pre-qualified for a loan. Now the shopping and deciding what I can really afford versus what the bank says I can afford. This is going to be one exciting ride!!

It's official!

I have stopped using Yahoo 360 and linked to this blog. How much interest it will generate remains to be seen!

Yammering away

First post I was blathering on about dumping Yahoo 360. So what did I do this past week? I posted to freaking 360. I completely forgot about this blog. Maybe I drink too much wine...nah, that's not it. I am old people!!
