I MUST be crazy!

With the seller's signed termination agreement for the "falling down house", I am ready to make an offer on a house not too far from where I currently live. This house had been gutted and completely re-done. All new everything from wiring and plumbing to walls and a finished attic. It is roughly the size of the house that I lived in when I was in Virginia. Certainly large enough for one woman and a cat! The attic room will be perfect for my quilting studio with enough floor space to throw down air mattresses when the grandchildren are in town. There are two more bedrooms on the second floor so I will also have an office/guest room in the back and the master bedroom in the front of the house. The young man who is flipping this property has done all the right things including permits. How refreshing!! He mentioned that the porch decking is mahogany as it is naturally resistent to pests and rot. I nearly kissed him!

Now - I just need FHA approval for the loan and I think I could actually become a homeowner!

Everybody gets a gun...

There you go...look at the interesting individual in the center of the photo above. I surely want him for a neighbor. I am guessing it is only a matter of time until everyone gets a carry permit, too.

Just another reason to put a Democrat in the White House...

Just shaking my head...

Ever notice how conservative "Christians" want to talk about the New Testament and only mention the Old Testament when they need to support archaic thought?

Case in point: Charles Dobson is accusing Barack Obama of "fruitcake interpretation" of the Bible and "dragging biblical understanding through the gutter". All this because Obama spoke about scripture that doesn't agree with Mr. Dobson's views. Dobson says that Obama is talking about Jewish law that has nothing to do with Jesus's teachings. Well, Mr. Dobson, let's talk about the teachings of Christ. One of the right wing Christian "abominations" is homosexuality. Jesus never mentions it. You would think that if it was that important, Jesus would have made mention of the issue. Jesus did talk about loving each other, forgiveness and peace.

Sorry - I think that striving for understanding of all faiths goes a long way towards the ideals of Christ's teachings. Mr. Dobson serves himself.

Those darned Democrats!

I was watching the news this morning. I heard President Bush blame the Democrats in Congress for the soaring oil prices. I swear, that's what I heard him say.

Bush said Wednesday that in the short term, the U.S. economy would continue to rely on oil, and he attacked Congress for blocking his repeated calls for drilling in the Arctic.

"Unfortunately, Democrats on Capitol Hill have rejected every proposal," said Bush, flanked by his Energy and Interior secretaries in the White House Rose Garden. "And Americans are paying the price at the pump."
(LA Times)

It's all the Democrat's fault since they put the ban on drilling in the Artic so now he wants to implement off shore drilling. All because of the Democrats. Nothing to do with the profiteering oil companies or oil speculators. Nothing to do with oil rich countries holding the US by the balls. Nope, it's all the fault of those damned Democrats in Congress.

Wonder who writes this crap for him?

Hiding under my desk

The Washington Post reported that plans for a sophisticated nuclear weapon were found on the computer of a Pakistani individual currently under house arrest in Pakistan for selling nuclear technologies. Looks like he may have sold plans to North Korea, Libya and Iran. The device would be small enough to put on a ballistic missile.

Damn...no clue about the plans to fly planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, couldn't find the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, didn't know about the guy selling nuclear plans in Pakistan...wonder what the US "intelligence" system really does know?

Just waiting for the next shoe to drop...

Head banging

If you happen to read my other blog, you know that the house inspection was both very enlightening and very disheartening. I am sure that the seller signed my offer with trepidation knowing I was having the house inspected. What he should have done was told the truth on the disclosure and saved me time, money and sleepless nights. I am giving them the opportunity to fix everything structural and I will still buy. (I really do love this house and the neighborhood!) More likely is that he will take the house off the market, make the repairs and put it back on the market at a price to cover the monies that he will have to pay to make the house livable.

If it were just some bad windows, leaking pipes and a garage roof, I would be more flexible. However, it is a non-working heating system (which also means no hot water), a chimney that is pulling away from the house, a rotten front porch AND the house has to be re-wired.

So here is my public service announcement for the week: If you are going to buy a house ALWAYS get a house inspection! Spend the money! Disclosure forms don't always tell the truth. Protect yourself and your investment!

Now, I wait...

Stupidity rears its ugly head

I just read a CNN report that 17% of Clinton supporters would now vote for McCain and 22% wouldn't vote at all since Hillary is not the nominee. Way to support your gal, folks! She asked that you help put a Democrat in the White House but you would rather 4 more years of Republican "leadership". Way to go, way to go!

Sitting in limbo

3AM and I can't sleep...I submitted an offer on a house last evening and I am on pins and needles. Not sleeping really isn't anything new, however, the reason for it is! I really want this house. Really, really want it. Now that I have some revised numbers to look at, I am no longer terrified of a mortgage payment. I could have afforded what the bank estimated originally, but having real numbers based on real taxes makes me feel a whole lot better. Who knew that changing counties could make that much of a difference?!

My biggest fear with the original scenario from the mortgage company was that I would no longer be able to afford to shop for quilt fabric. NO FEAR!! I can still shop!

What did I tell you?!?

If you read my blog on Yahoo 360, you will remember that I voiced my concerns about Bill Clinton as "first husband" and his skirt chasing.

Well, it turns out that some of the "Clinton aides" are concerned about the same thing while old Bill has been on the campaign trail. Check out the article in Vanity Fair.

Quoting my mother, "Once a cheater, always a cheater". (My mother is a very wise woman but, please, don't tell her I said that!)

Ever notice...?

Did you ever notice that as soon as the price goes up on a barrel of oil the gasoline prices jump? I mean, it happens within hours! So, on Friday I heard that the price of oil per barrel dropped because the dollar was stronger and because the demand had dropped. SO DID ANYONE NOTICE THE PRICE OF GASOLINE DROPPING OVER THE WEEKEND? As a matter of fact, this morning it was reported the price of gasoline had gone up again and is now averaging (in the Philadelphia area) over $4 a gallon.

Greed, people. Nothing but greed.
